Crossover is ITDA-IHMP's process for evaluating certifications from other recognised agencies and mapping them to the equivalent ITDA-IHMP level. Whether you're a recreational diver, technical diver, or instructor, we assess your existing qualifications and arrange any targeted gap-filling assessment — so you can join our global community without starting over.

Instructor Crossover
Transfer your teaching credentials to ITDA-IHMP
Already a certified instructor with another agency? The Instructor Crossover evaluates your existing teaching qualifications and maps them to the equivalent ITDA-IHMP instructor rating — from Open Water Scuba Instructor through to Course Director Assessor Examiner.
What's involved
- 1Submit a professional application with your current certification card, proof of insurance, and teaching record.
- 2ITDA-IHMP HQ reviews your qualifications and maps them to the equivalent ITDA-IHMP instructor level.
- 3Any gap-filling training or assessment is identified and arranged with a regional training partner.
- 4Upon completion, your ITDA-IHMP e-certification is issued and your instructor profile is activated.
Prerequisites
- Active instructor certification from a recognised agency
- Minimum age 18
- Proof of professional liability insurance (where required in your region)
- Teaching record / logged instructional dives
Diver Crossover
Continue your diving journey with ITDA-IHMP
Certified diver from another agency? The Diver Crossover maps your existing certification to the equivalent ITDA-IHMP level — covering both Recreational Scuba and Technical Diving, from Open Water Diver through to Advanced and Specialist levels. We also welcome Military and Occupational/Commercial divers who wish to qualify for ITDA-IHMP Scuba or Technical certifications — so you can continue your progression without starting over.
What's involved
- 1Contact a regional ITDA-IHMP training partner to request a crossover assessment.
- 2Present your current certification card and logbook for evaluation.
- 3Complete any gap-filling theory or practical assessment as identified.
- 4Receive your ITDA-IHMP e-certification at the mapped equivalent level.

Recognised Agencies
We welcome divers from all agencies and National Federations
ITDA-IHMP recognises certifications from all major diving agencies. If yours isn't listed, select "Other" on the application and we'll evaluate your qualification individually.
How It Works
The crossover process, step by step
Submit Your Application
Complete the professional registration form with your personal details, current certification, and agency. Upload your certification card and supporting documents.
Qualification Review
ITDA-IHMP HQ reviews your application and maps your existing qualifications to the equivalent ITDA-IHMP level. We evaluate your training, experience, and teaching record (for instructors).
Gap Assessment
If any gaps are identified between your current qualification and the ITDA-IHMP standard, we'll arrange targeted training or assessment with a regional partner — no need to retake your full course.
Agreement & Code of Conduct
Sign the ITDA-IHMP Professional Agreement, including our International Standards, Safety Standards, Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance, and Data Protection commitments.
E-Certification Issued
Once approved, your ITDA-IHMP e-certification is issued digitally with a verifiable QR code. Your instructor profile is activated and membership benefits begin.
What You'll Need
Documents for your crossover application
Current certification card
A clear photo or scan of your existing certification card from your current agency.
Logbook / teaching record
Proof of your dive history and, for instructors, your instructional experience.
Professional liability insurance
Required for instructor crossovers where applicable — proof of current professional liability insurance. Not required for diver crossovers, though we highly recommend diver insurance. DAN (Divers Alert Network) is our preferred supplier for diver and family insurance.
Passport photo
A recent passport-style photo for your digital certification card.
Medical statement
A current medical fitness-to-dive statement, where applicable.

Crossover is included in select membership plans
Annual membership plans at the Leadership level and above include one crossover as part of your registration. Standalone crossover e-certification fees start at €95.
Leadership Plan
Includes one Instructor annual registration or a crossover.
Professional Plan
Includes 1 instructor registration or crossover.
Specialist/Advanced Instructor Plan
Includes 1 Trainer or Advanced Instructor registration or crossover.
Instructor Trainer Plan
Includes a Training Director / Course Director or a crossover and upgrade.
